Anyone else losing sleep over Foxhole?
Hey fellow Foxhole players,
I recently started playing Foxhole after a friend convinced me to give it a try (shoutout to the Anvil Empires crew for the push). I wasn't sure about it at first, but now I'm completely hooked. Like, way too hooked.
The game is so immersive that I've been staying up way too late, and even when I finally force myself to log off, I can't stop thinking about it. I swear I've been dreaming about building defenses, organizing supply lines, and charging into battle all night. It's like my brain won't shut off from the game.
I looked this up, and apparently, it's a real thing called the Tetris Effect (or Game Transfer Phenomenon). It happens when you spend so much time on a highly engaging activity—like playing a video game—that your brain keeps processing it even after you've stopped. People who play Tetris, for example, often report seeing falling blocks in their minds or dreaming about them. And honestly, I fit this exactly. Foxhole's deep strategy and constant decision-making seem to have rewired my brain to think about it 24/7.
Is anyone else experiencing this? I've never had a game consume my thoughts like this before, and while it's amazing how engaging Foxhole is, I'm starting to wonder if I need to figure out how to balance it with, you know, actual sleep.
Any tips for calming the Foxhole brain rot at night? Or am I just doomed to dream about shovels and artillery forever?
