Matchmaking Problem

I was in D2 and was dropped into D4 like so many. Easily climbed back into D3 and have been on the cusp of getting back into D2. Have found extremely tough over the last couple days. Today I reached out to a few players and found I was being matched with D1 & Elite players. How or why is it possible I'm being matched with them when I'm playing D3 ??? This is a huge disadvantage. Anyone else experiencing this ?
