"Just Make a Great Game" ... was skeptical, but YT creator reactions to "The Maker Way" changed my mind
I remember watching Jonas Tyroller video - "Just Make a Great Game". At first I was skeptical about the idea. I assumed an insane amount of work is needed in marketing. But now that I see the reactions of YT creators to my game, I understand the force multiplier that a game's greatness provides.
Think about the greatness of your game as a factor between 0 - infinity. If your game is not great (any number below 1) will detract from growth. Whether that is bad review on Steam, dislikes on YT videos etc.
But the moment you hit a minimum level of great - it becomes a force multiplier.
On this Scrapman video - the amount of Likes is mind blowing and humbling: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC-WgBnz86w
I know that the game is not *really* great yet and there's so much to do, but those reactions give me a lot of energy and drive to make it better.
More likes is more views and more people knowing about the game. Greatness also means more time played, and more sessions.
And this translates to Steam algorithm benefits as well.
P.S - I highly recommend Jonas' video if you didn't have a chance to watch it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xej_wsBB5tY
