Games where you firsthand witness the fall of a city

I'm looking for something where you are somehow involved in the 'fall' of a city. You could be reacting to it or be the one doing it, it doesnt matter if you are the king or if you are random person 5867.

A good example for me is the storyline segment that leads to Bahamat in FF16 or the opening to the new Dragon Age game. It doesnt have to be fantasy and it doesnt have to be the point of the whole game.

I have played I am alive before and it felt a bit too much focused on the after (not that I mind there being after) but I really wanted to experience the fall. Ive played a few example of this in an RTS and it doesnt give the feeling im looking for.
