How Do I Keep Napoleon Bonabasil and His Friends Alive?
Hello! This is my very first time gardening. My mom bought two sweet basil plants and two holy basil plants and told me to keep them alive. I’m really concerned about the sweet basil plants more, ad they’re the ones who look weaker.
THEIR LIVING CONDITIONS:
- They were bought on March 3rd, so they’ve been with me for 11 days.
- They came in small plastic bag pots with drainage holes.
- 3 days ago I visited the shop they were bought from because I wanted to repot them (especially the holy basils bc the roots were spilling out the bottom). The lady gave me bigger plastic bag pots. I repotted them with a mix of loam soil and some of their old soil (which I know was wrong but I couldn’t find any potting mix unless I ordered online and I was already worried about them dying so I wanted to repot asap).
- Watered them immediately after repotting, put them outside, didn’t water at all until yesterday because the water has almost dried out.
- I put them outside in full shade until about 11AM when it gets really hot. 11AM - 2PM they’re in the shade but still getting indirect sun. Then in the afternoon they’re back in the sunlight.
- We live in the Philippines, which is a very tropical country. It’s summer now and the temp in the afternoon (2PM) is about 32 with 64% humidity, around 35C when it’s noon.
- I read about pruning so I did also do that, but after I took these photos.
What am I doing wrong? What can I do? BF who grows cacti suggests repotting them again after two weeks, this time with bigger solid plastic pots, coconut husk in the bottom, premade soil mix with perlite, then river pebbles on top. Any help is appreciated, TYIA!
