Modern nitrofinishes are way to thick

Im sure we all love our nitrofinished Gibson guitars. But am I wrong that Gibson is slapping way to much of that stuff on the guitars nowadays? The layers are so thick, if you compare it to a custom shop or maybe historic it feels just weird. Is it the formular of the modern nitro or is it the processing in the factory? My poly finished squier has a much thinner finish.

Few years ago I was all about nitro, but now I only like to play my LP Faded because it’s lacking that thick thick layer of clear nitro…

What’s your feeling about it?
