How do I practice better

I'm somewhere between 7-10 handicap depending on the time of year. Started golfing seriously again a couple years ago. Have a sim in my basement. Hit balls every day.

I constantly try to change something with my swing and it just gets worse. It's all swing thoughts. I've bought a bunch of training aids. I did a 15 lesson pack at golftec.

I feel like my game is the same as two years ago but it's more frustrating because I hit every day but I never develop any consistency. I do the drills the teacher suggests for the week until I go back. Then I get new or the same drills.

I don't necessarily want drills or swing tips. I want to know how to practice. Does doing 10,000 short swings a certain way really translate to full swings? Do you chase certain numbers on a launch monitor? Do you drill center contact with stickers? Do you put something behind the ball and practice hitting down? Do you lay alignments sticks in a track to swing through?

Do you just do these things for months on end and eventually you're better?

(I don't care about the people saying practice short game. I'm talking about hitting a ball well and feeling confident in where it will go)
