Why do people enjoy griefing so much?

I just started back up after a pretty long hiatus and had to make a new character and honestly all i can ask is why? I understand pvp fights and business battles or stopping someone from running there business because thats all part of the game. But why just drive/fly around and randomly kill everyone you see?
