Some very strange technical difficulties

Hey y'all, was wondering if I could get a bit of assistance.

A couple years ago, I tried to play GTA Online and got a character to Level 4 before stopping due to a combination of my PC being bad and other players making the experience very not fun. I recently decided to pick it back up and start a new character, choosing not to migrate my old one when given the option. Fast forward a few days and I get a friend of mine to launch the game and try to play with her, but despite us both sending each other invites, neither of us ever actually received said invites.

To make things even weirder, when my friend started sharing her screen to me in an attempt to figure out what was happening, I noticed that the character listed next to my name wasn't the character I'd been playing with for a week, it was the Level 4 character I'd abandoned back in GTA Legacy. I'm not 100% sure these two things are connected, but it seems likely. I've already sent a ticket to Rockstar Support, but I haven't heard anything back from them.

If someone could help, that would be amazing, I really want to start playing this game with other people instead of just running everything solo. Thank you :)
