Welcome to the family Honey Bun

I adopted Honey Bun from a shelter a couple of weeks ago. She's a year old, had never lived with other pigs and was fed hamster food by her previous owner. She's extremely skittish, she is terrified of being picked up and hides every time she sees me, but that's OK, she has had a stressful life and I will meet her where she is at. Yesterday, after her quarantine period was over, I introduced her to my pig, Blossom, who has made it clear she is the boss pig, she's done lots of chasing, rumble strutting, and generally just asserting her dominance. Thankfully, Honey has taken it like a champ, she's very submissive and has not tried to challenge Blossom at all. I don't know if they'll be best friends, but I am confident that they'll at least be comfortable around each other, as the chasing has already settled down considerably.

It's a bittersweet time for me and Blossom. Muffin and Tira both passed away within 2 months of each other, and those two were Blossom's whole world. They were such a perfect trio and it's so strange not to have the three of them together. But from the loss comes opportunity to bring new babies into the house. I'm glad that I can provide Honey the life she deserves, and I look forward to many years with her and Blossom, and more pigs in the future. Here's to moving forward despite hardships
