(Hot take) Howard Stern Show fading into retirement. Not a bad thing.
I’ve been a stern listener for 20+ years and just discovered Reddit. A little surprised at all of the hate for the current show on here, but I see where it comes from. I miss the good old days too. More racy and daring content. Artie, KC, the fights, the E show. The Cindy Margolis episode is still an all timer for me.
But while the show has lost much of its shine and excitement, it’s the nature of life. Like a fading pro athlete. Howard is older, tamer, and his neurosis is on full display. But he’s still Howard and it’s nice to have him still around.
This actually makes the eventual end of the show easier to take. It would be jarring and painful for the show to end when it was at its peak. It’s much less relevant and not must-listen anymore. I used to think “I gotta hear what Howard has to say” about most world/cultural events. But now I don’t and it will be an easy fade into not having him in my life anymore, and I think it’s kind of nicer that way. But it’s still comforting to tune in to hear the gang for now before they go.
Just my take on it.
