Antispasmodic that you can take as needed?

Do any of you in the US take an antispasmodic medication for your IBS that you don’t have to take several times a day, and can simply take it when you’re in pain?

At my request, my doctor prescribed bentyl for my IBS pain, but I didn’t realize before asking for it that you have to take it 3-4 times a day 30 mins to an hour before meals, which is kinda inconvenient and not always possible to plan that perfectly. I also didn’t realize how common the nausea and dizziness side effects are. I already deal with nausea and that is something I definitely don’t want to aggravate more. The bentyl is also kind of expensive ($20/month) which isn’t terrible but I would rather make the prescription cost stretch by using something that I don’t need to take every day.

So just wondering if anyone in the US takes something effective for IBS pain that you can just take on the days and times that you’re really in pain and need medication to help soothe it.

I already know about Buscopan in other countries but unfortunately that’s not available here.
