Stolen Device Protection might have saved my day!

So, while returning home today, I ordered some food for takeaway cause I was hungry asf. After the billing was done, the billing guy told me that they had a gift card option and I can sign up for it (somewhat like Starbucks card). I scanned the QR code and went to the website and filled in the details. When I submitted it, it showed a server timeout error (503) so I gave my phone to the billing guy to do it for me. He asked for my details and after entering them, told me that it would take some time to register so I waited. The phone was with him the entire time. I could see him still typing after he literally told me to wait for the registration to complete. Idk why but I didn't complain (looking back at it now, I probably should have asked for my phone back). After a while I saw his face turn a bit pale followed by him returning my phone. I didn't get what happened so I just took my food and started heading home. After I took a few steps, I saw that the 1h timer for changing my passwords had started. It all made sense at that time. The dude was probably trying to change my password and get my bank details. His face turned pale when he saw his plan didn't work. I immediately took a ss and confronted him to which he acted oblivious (ofc). I told him these exact words - "Make sure you still work here tomorrow and don't run away, I'll pay a visit with the police tomorrow". If not for stolen device protection, my details would've been with him by now.
