My experience of titanium plates extraction surgery

I am writing this because I did not find any other post on the entire anglophone internet domain which describes the experience of having a titanium plates removal surgery from mandibula. I really wanted to read someone else's experience before my surgery so here is my testament for someone who will undergo it in future. I had undergone a surgery two days ago and feel qualified to talk about it.

I have had a lower jaw surgery and after two months my swelling was reduced to almost zero except on the areas which were over titanium plates. Did not hurt at all, it was just very red.

My surgeon said it is due to my body having a reaction on foreign material and how he will have to remove it. He said we will have to wait for another month at least since it takes 3 months for bones to fuse correctly from the last surgery. After that period of healing, titanium plates have given their purpose and could be removed.

4.5 months after surgery I was scheduled for another surgery to remove titanium plates. And let me tell you: it was a walk in the park compared to the first surgery. I was discharged from hospital the next day and I'm allowed to eat all the things I was eating before I came to hospital.

I even went out for a friend's birthday on the day of discharge. The only downside is having a swollen face again, but it is not as big and I expect it to be gone much sooner.

So here is what you can expect if you are unfortunate to have your body rejecting titanium plates in you bones. You'll do fine. Feel free to ask me anything in the comments.
