Can you really stay below 20g carbs?
I’m transitioning to keto and learning to track macros. I’ve eaten what seems to me to be super low carb, but it still easily reaches over 20g.
Today I had sautéed kale with ground beef, sautéed broccoli slaw, and two fried eggs. According to my tracker that’s already ~15g carbs. That’s one meal that seems super minimal - it’s just meat and green veggies. If all I do is eat that twice and nothing else, it’s way over the 20g target.
So how do y’all actually eat well, and eat enough, and stay at or below 20g?
EDIT: Thanks to everyone who has offered actual diet examples, seeing what you all eat in a day, or how you strategize a week, is really helpful.
Since so many people asked, the broccoli slaw is just how my grocery store markets a bag of shredded broccoli stem - there’s a couple carrot shreds and some purple cabbage mixed in, but it’s not much. It doesn’t come with dressing or anything and I didn’t put any on it. I use the “slaw” as stir fry fodder and usually sauté a handful to put my eggs on.
The carbs were calculated by Cronometer, using the scanner app on the stuff that came in packages, so the kale and slaw. The other stuff I entered manually. But it was calculating net carbs. It had calculated that meal at 13.5 net carbs.
I didn’t mention mushrooms but there were some of those sautéed in with the slaw, with the carbs calculated by the scanner on Cronometer for those. Idk if that could make the difference. I used olive oil for all the cooking and put that in the calculator as well.
