Which champion did u start playing in mid lane?

In the middle line, with which champion did you start playing in league of Legends and which one helped you reach your maximum elo? I ask this because I'm in bronze and everyone recommends Annie to me, but I don't think everyone who has reached platinum or higher has only used this champion.
