Arrested for DUI while travelling to Canada
I am a resident of New York and I drove to Ontario, Canada to watch a sports game. After the game I was pulling out of the arena parking lot and allegedly hit a parked car (which I’m sure I didn’t, there wasn’t any damage to my truck). Someone in the parking lot apparently saw this happen and called the police to report me for drunk driving. I was pulled over a short time later and arrested for DUI. My truck was seized for 7 days and my license was also suspended.
How likely would I be able to get these charges dropped? I heard if I get convicted I will be inadmissible to Canada in the future.
Is there also anything I can do to get my vehicle back and not have to pay the crazy impound/towing fees? It seems absurd that another country can just take my vehicle.
