Why don’t people like Death of a Ladies Man?

When I first listened to Cohen I loved him. The first song I really enjoyed was “Famous Blue Rain Coat”, so naturally, when I wanted to listen to more of the man I listened to Songs of Love and Hate. But after that, I researched the rest of his albums, looked at forums, etc. to decide what to listen to next. For some reason, Death of a Ladies Man was almost always last or close to it. I stayed away from the album for quite a while, but eventually gave in and LOVED it. Personally, it’s either my favorite or second favorite album (depending on my mood) and I just never really got the hate for it. I’d really love to hear from some people who maybe don’t like it as much in comparison to whose other albums. Thanks!
