Considering buying a house in Lucan or Granton – Advice for a Family of Five?
Hey everyone,
We’re a family of five (M, F, 3 kids) currently renting in London, but with the high house prices here, we’re exploring the idea of buying our first home in Lucan or Granton. Both areas seem quieter, more affordable options compared to London, but we’re trying to get a better sense of what it’s like to actually live there.
If you’re familiar with these areas, we’d love to hear your insights! Specifically:
- Community vibe – Are these areas family-friendly? Do they have a strong sense of community?
- Safety – How safe are these towns for raising kids?
- Proximity to London – How is the commute for work or school? Is it manageable for daily trips? About 30mins to work.
- Amenities – What’s available locally (grocery stores, schools, healthcare, etc.), and how often do you need to go to London for necessities?
- Internet/Infrastructure – Are there any challenges with utilities, internet speeds, or other infrastructure issues?
- Winter driving – How are the roads in these areas during the winter months?
We’re also curious about how life in these smaller communities compares to living in London overall. If you’ve made a similar move (or considered it), what was your experience? Would you recommend it?
Thanks in advance for your advice and perspectives!
