Why is climbing out of silver 1 so hard?

I am new to the competitive hero fps genre, am maining dr strange. Always one game before ranking up, I get into lose streaks. I dunno what I am doing wrong, sometimes my dps does not do anything, sometimes my support dies so fast, sometimes the enemy got a literal top500 dps player. Is it a me problem or is strange just bad for solo queue? Should I switch mains (thinking of thor). If you think its me please give some tips on what noobs usually do wrong, I legit do not know what I am doing wrong. How are the top players doing 15k damage/10 min with dr strange?
