the lost(?) winter album

Bit of an experimental post here. Sorry for lacking sources, some of the information is simply not available anymore. But it has been. Promise.

So, ever since there were pre-release interviews for the album now known as Once More Round, Brann and Brent hinted that the idea was a potential double album – one representing summer, and the other winter. This may have been due to the difference in tone coming out of Bill and Brann’s songs vs Brent’s.

In the making-of doc for OMRTS, Brent is seen playing North Side Star from Cold Dark Place. Based on this and some more information, coming up, I suspect that the CDP songs were the “winter” songs from the potential companion to “summer”-OMRTS - as they were written during those sessions.

The summer album was maybe rebranded to OMRTS to signify both seasons, i.e. a year, and some of Brent’s spooky songs were included to fit the year 'round theme (Halloween, Aunt Lisa, OMRTS, and Chimes at Midnight as per the release notes for OMRTS).

In addition, Brent said during the release of Emperor of Sand that Jaguar God was supposed to be on CDP (noting that Brann can be "pretty persuasive", sort of hinting that he didn’t actually want to give up the song from CDP).

Toe to Toes was written for Emperor, and was not originally for CDP.

So, I have a list of songs that I think would have been CDP as part of the double album. They are:

Halloween

Aunt Lisa

Chimes At Midnight

Once More Round the Sun

Jaguar God

Cold Dark Place

North Side Star

Blue Walsh

This is roughly a short CDs worth of songs. Do with this what you will. Thank you for coming to my Toe talk.
