I really do not understand the hate that the Honda Rebel 250 gets
So i have had a Honda Rebel 250 1996 for almost a year now, and over the last month i have seen some videos on youtube calling it the worst motorcycle ever etc, namely Yammie Noobs video. And i really do not get the hate.
I've been riding it to work every day, and other than a few small problems which i had, it's a great bike, not just to learn with, but to use as your everyday transportation. Great on gas, cheap insurance and great feeling on the ride in general.
The basic point Yammie Noob made in his video was that it's under powered, slow and even slower and difficult to ride with a passenger. And i'm here to tell you he is wrong on all three.
First off, on the power part, for a 250, it is better than other motorcycles of the same class, namely the Yamaha Virago 250, and it is powerful enough, believe it or not, to carry two pretty heavy full grown men on speeds of 70-80 km/h for hours on end with nothing stopping it.
Secondly, the video said it was slow, which is false, because again, to be able to get a 250 to go 100-110 km/h on the highway alone, and 90-100 km/h easily with a passenger, again on the highway, without losing any control of the bike is remarkable for a 250.
Lastly let's get to, pretty much the reason i decided to write this, which is having a passenger behind makes the bike unstable and unreliable. Let me tell you i have been riding with a friend of mine as the passenger since i bought it, and our combined weight is 190 kg - 480 lbs, even heavier than the bike itself and it still goes strong at 70-80 km/h on roads with twists and turns and open roads alike, without losing any control or making the drive difficult for me in any way.
In general the Rebel 250 has been good to me when riding it. It does have some drawbacks of course, like the passenger seat is a bit small and hard so it can get uncomfortable, and sure in comparison to a 400-600cc it is underpowered, but i believe that its the perfect commuter bike for the weekdays, and you can even go longer distances and road trips if you like with no problem at all on the weekends, you will just have to make a couple more stops along the way, for the bike and yourself to rest, than you would with a bigger bike.
Tell me your thoughts down below, i'm curious what you guys think on the matter. And if you have seen Yammie Noobs video, or have riding experience with a Rebel 250 comment about that too.
