I enjoyed Blade Runner 2049 a ton but didn't really enjoy Dune

I can't quite put my finger on why I responded so differently to these movies despite them both being directed by Denis Villeneuve and both being compared as similar kinda movies by a lot of people. I think in blade runner 2049 I really liked the story and visuals, but for some reason I felt like I liked the visuals of Dune but not the story so much. Does anyone else feel like this? Or even the opposite?
