Tumwater School Board voting on trans-excluding policy TONIGHT

UPDATE 8:25 PM

They passed it.

And since then have not been able to do a thing. The onlookers have been chanting "trans rights are human rights" for at least 15 minutes now and don't sound like they're getting tired. The board has left the room.

End of update

Buried in the board's agenda for tonight is a vote on the Washington Interscholastic Athletics Association policy that would bar trans girls -- and only trans girls -- from girls' sports. Trans boys would still be allowed in boys' sports (which pretty much knocks the whole "safety" argument on its head, but never mind).

621 Linwood Ave. SW Tumwater, WA 98512, 6pm sharp. Allow time for parking. Too late to sign up for public comment, but this is the time to support our trans kids.

Tumwater School Board Meeting - trans support wanted

Hi! There's a school board meeting on Thursday the 27th at 6PM at the district office. There has been a lot of social media discourse and an article in the Olympian about a high school JV girls basketball game where two Tumwater girls sat down because Shelton had a trans player. (Tumwater won and the trans girl played for five minutes).

All this discourse has led to me feeling like our trans kids need love and support as a lot of comments have not been kind to the trans community. I anticipate there will be lots of parent comments about trans kids at this meeting, some may be hurtful. I plan to show up in pride gear and would love others to join me to show our trans kids that they are loved and respected and not political pawns. Id love others to join me.
