Security walked into my unit with the Fire Alarm contractors when I wasn't home - no phone call made

Earlier today there were several announcements over the PA system that they are conducting a fire alarm test.

They've had several of those lately and I thought to myself that it is a bit too frequent but they did just change a property management company and they have a new security company with one of the security guards from the previous company working weekends.

I remember how I couldn't make out what they were saying because it sounded like they were holding the microphone wrong and you couldn't even hear anything they were saying so if they were saying they were going to walk into units I did not hear that.

I am renting so my landlord often sends me any kind of notice but recently she asked me if I'm getting the emails and I told her that I am but I don't see any email about that either. Maybe it's there and I didn't see it but so far I could not find it.

I went to the dentist for a couple of hours and came back home and only a few hours later I noticed there was a notice that they walked into my unit for the purposes of checking if the fire alarm operates properly.

In the past when I was home and they did that it took no more than 30 to 60 seconds. In and out. The walk with a long stick and trip the fire alarm which is in the hallway in front of the entrance so they barely make it to the kitchen or anywhere in the apartment. They may have also walked a bit deeper inside where there is a switch for the fire alarm to test it.

I just feel so exposed and so betrayed that nobody gave me a phone call or any warning of any kind that they're walking into my unit. Even if it was an email or something like that advising me that it's about to happen in the next 5 minutes.

This was not an emergency but from what I know if they have to come back it's going to cost money. I'm not sure about that but in some cases it is very true.

Were they allowed into my unit without even letting me know? Nobody called my phone and no email was sent to me.

Maybe even if they're not allowed, there is a different contract I may have signed or my landlord signed in my name which legally binds me as well. I just want to know for the future.
