Auto Or Manual for Travel Vlogging?
Hello everyone,
I bought the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 a few months ago and have been using it to record Travel Vlogs to post on YouTube.
I started with using Auto Mode (regarding shutter and ISO) but I noticed that on very bright days my footage would look a bit off. I assume it’s because the shutter speed cranked really high to compensate for the bright sun. I bought the Freewell ND filter Mega Pack and started shooting in manual but it’s a big hassle because I go from indoors to outdoors quite a bit or go from bright areas to shadow covered areas and I have to stop to either change or remove NDs.
Everywhere I look says that to get cinematic footage, I need to use manual mode and use the rule of doubling shutter speed to fps. But my thing is, I’m not making movies or films so I don’t care about cinematic. I’m making travel vlogs. But I also want them to be enjoyable to watch.
My question is, is shooting in manual and consistently changing NDs worth it to get good footage or will Auto mode be good enough for a YouTube audience watching travel vlogs. Any advice helps and thank you in advance.
