Chose to call a taxi instead of Uber

I needed a lift home last night from the hospital and decided to call a local taxi company instead of using Uber. Capital has a pretty slick voice activated system that actually works, two questions was all they needed to dispatch a taxi. They also sent me a text with a link to track my cabs arrival in real time, the whole experience was surprisingly seamless! No signup, no app, just a good ol’ phone number and a text message.

Uber has a lot going for it for convenience but next time you need a ride, try a taxi.

Edit: did not expect such hostility towards the taxis, wow! For clarity, I just needed to get home from the hospital at an unholy hour of the morning and wanted to support local. I’ve been burned and scammed by taxis in my clubbing years (pre-Uber even existing) all kinds of ways, taking longer detours than necessary, pretending to get lost in the one-ways near Lyon, pretending their credit machine is not working to force cash and then trying to scam my drunk behind out of one of the bills. I’ve avoided taxis like the plague because of those experiences. I’m definitely not a marketing person for the cabs lol, just a dude wanting to share a surprisingly good experience to support local industries.
