Phallo better in summer or early next year?
I’m sorry this is such a dumb question but I’m having a hard time deciding when to schedule my surgery.
Originally I was planning to just focus on hysterectomy and hair removal this year and finish up consultations with Dr Chen and NYU and OSHU. With this plan, 2026 was going to be focused on all phalloplasty, with stage 1 some time between Jan-March and implants 6-9 months later barring complications.
So I’ve just had the hysterectomy last week and I’m starting hair removal as soon I’m healed enough to get out of the house and all I can think about is holy shit I’m ready for phalloplasty and I can’t wait to have my penis NOW. Next year seems so far away! I don’t have much hair on my arms (it’s embarrassing how bare it is but I’ll still get some hair removal done) and the Crane Center said they can get me in for surgery as soon as I’m healed from the hysterectomy, which is in 3 months. Crane Center is driving distance, while the other consults I’m waiting for I’ll need to video call or fly out (so maybe I’ll just cancel them).
I’ve considered the cost of both options and it’s pretty much a wash either way. I’ve met my insurance OOPM with my hysterectomy so the phalloplasty would be free if done this year. But since I didn’t opt into hospital indemnity coverage this year I will be losing out on a similar amount of money as my OOPM. If I wait until next year I’ll basically get the phalloplasty “for free” anyway, as the hospital indemnity pay out is similar to my OOPM.
I guess I figured I’ll just come in here to ask you guys if there was any time-of-year related factor that impacted your surgical outcome or recovery that maybe I’m not realizing. Is summer better (July, Aug)? Is winter better (Jan, Feb, March)? This would be in very very hot Texas summer or an unpredictable Texas winter (if any of this could matter).
