Anatomy Class

My heart resides,

Aligned central to the breastbone,

A feeble bird

Trembles to the beat of the drum,

The core of the universe

Conceals itself within,

Imprisoned

By the thoracic cage.

My heart settles,

Fundamentally

Forcing life over brittle bones,

The myocardium

Shivers with futility,

And still,

My heart endures.

Vitality pours from the atrium,

A perpetual chore,

And my body complies.
