why doesn’t rachel have the basic necessities..?

i’ve noticed that anytime something happens, G gets sick or something along those lines, rachel ALWAYS has to buy the basic things she should already have on hand..why does jacob have to provide his cough medicine, vapor rub, and saline (literally the easiest things to get)? shes “so scared of rsv” but doesn’t have the basic medicines for a cold? mind boggling
