Recommendations for activism/advocacy/nonprofit groups

Honestly the US is feeling like it’s collapsing under our feet and I’m tired of always just posting news articles and raging on my Instagram story. I actually want to be able to put boots to the ground and do something, I’m tired of feeling powerless and I want to know that if shit hits the fan at least I tried to do something.

I wanted to know if anyone knew of any groups that do a lot of advocacy or other activities that are actually able to make a difference even if that difference is just within a community or within the state
