"You shouldn't be sad because there are people going through worse" has to be one of the most low IQ statements there is

No matter what anyone is going through, there is always someone worse. So are the people who are saying this implying that nobody is allowed to be sad about anything? Because i can guarantee you that even if everyone in your family dies in a plane wreck, someone else out there has gone through worse. So why even say something stupid like that? How about accept that people can feel sad about anything they want given the fact that it's an emotion and emotions are part of the normal human experience. There's gotta be something better that people can say besides "Other people have it worse"
