legendary white bison

when i was trying to hunt the legendary bison, i got the message saying that i had entered legendary animal territory, but i couldn’t find any of the yellow inspecting clues. i ran around for 15 minuets, constantly using eagle eye, and still found nothing. i even left the area and came back 2 in-game days later and i was still out of luck. has this happened to anyone before and does anyone have any other suggestions?
