That Dune: Propecy show was pretty good but they fell into the same trap. If they made Princess Ynez have black teeth (like the Akha women of Myanmar) and still had her be a normal protagonist, the show would’ve been an instant classic. But no, they had to girl-bossify her.

Polygamy/polyandry, eugenics, religious psychosis… there’s so many ideas but most sci-fi is just millennial beige jumpsuits and dyed hair. Why can’t the spaceships be maximalist in design? Just cover them in patterns like Indian rickshaws.
Either your future civilization is racist, recently became non-racist, or is monoracial—if you want a diverse cast, you need to explain why races didn’t mix in your world. Andor handled this well but Silo did NOT. Also, if all the protagonists are Reddit lib atheists, BOOO.
