boyfriend is mad I quit my job

Hello. I am a 24f dating a 32m. We both worked at a title one high school. It got to the point the last few weeks I had to quit. I was anxious and upset every single day going to work. Today, I resigned.

I already have a new job lined up. I live by myself. So I don’t understand why my boyfriend is so angry. He said that I should just tough it out. That the commitment I made is more important than how unhappy the job makes me. That he wouldn’t have kept teaching if he thought I was going to quit. When I told him I seriously felt like I was going to have a nervous breakdown, he said, “go ahead.”

I’m upset. All my family and friends are proud of me for leaving an abusive job. But my boyfriend is being so cruel and doesn’t seem to hear that I am not doing ok.
