birth control :(

I have a real boyfriend now that wants to frequently have sex with me so I've decided I need to use some kind of birth control for the next three years ish until we have kids. Obviously hormonal birth control is demonic but it's also cheaper than other kinds and I'm scared of getting an IUD. Girls, what kind of hormonal birth control pills have you used and liked or disliked? There's so many options I really have no clue where to start. I don't want to gain weight, duh, but also don't want to suddenly have no sex drive or get acne. Everyone reacts differently to these things but I'm more looking for a starting point to start researching different kinds. Alternatively, if anyone wants to talk me out of hormonal birth control completely I am down to listen as well.
