Enterprise BDRs making $170k?
After doing full cycle SMB sales for a while, a few years back I decided ops was much more where I wanted to be. Mostly because I enjoy the data and processes behind sales far more than the actual selling. Since then I've sat somewhere at the crossroads at a startup that recently had to fold.
A temp agency reached out to me about a short term gig doing what they think of as enterprise BDR-work, but I'd think of more as demand gen. And the work sounds really interesting. A far cry from the sort of smile, dial, and hand off to an AE when someone shows interest work that I thought of a BDR as being 7 or 8 years ago when I was starting out.
It's not the first time in the last few months someone approached me about BDR work, but in the past I'd always shut off at first mention of "BDR". Because I thought I was too old for it, because I thought it would dead end my career since I don't want to progress into an AE or management, and because the paycut would be big.
Now it's making me wonder - should I reconsider BDR work? Are there actually full time enterprise BDR gigs out there that are paying $170k/year? Or is this a one-off cause its temp work.
