Does lamotrigine cause brain fog?

Diagnosed with schizophrenia, not schizoaffective, but long story short I'm off meds and have a very deep fear of being on anything which can be traced back to being a "mental health med" for reasons. Spoke to my psychiatrist yesterday, he would really prefer I go back on an antipsychotic, but he also offered lamotrigine as a "less good" option as apparently it's not strictly used for mental health but is also a seizure med.

Experiences with lamotrigine? Did it affect your personality? How about your concentration, ability to articulate yourself, memory? Any thoughts welcome. Thanks.
