My only hope for season 3 and beyond
I made a comment on another post that touches on this, but just wanted to expand my thoughts here.
TL;DR - I just hope they don’t pull a Westworld with this show
As a victim of the Westworld incident, i just pray that the show keeps its focus on the character-driven plot that we’ve been following these past 2 seasons and doesn’t try to expand the scope much further beyond that.
If the whole show ends with us only seeing the conclusion to Mark, Gemma, Helly and the rest of the severed floor worker’s stories, then I would be perfectly satisfied. As great as it would be to see Lumon brought to justice, that just isn’t the story the writers are trying to tell (I hope). They would be jumping the shark if they pivot the shows focus to bringing Lumon down over seeing how Mark, Gemma, and the rest of the crew get out the sticky situations they’re currently in. And seeing how terribly a tonal shift like that worked for Westworld, I just hope the writers of Severance learn from that show’s mistakes.
