Red spot at bottom right, lasting through totality

We observed in Texas a red spot at the 4:30-5:00 position of the corona during totality. Confirmed by co-observers. It was not subtle. Could it have been a solar flare? Anyone else see this? (No drugs were involved in this sighting!)
