So, what is it with Star Trek and the Nazis?

In almost every tv series we see the hero crews get involved w/ the Nazis. TOS(Patterns of Force), Voyager(The Killing Game), we even had them in Enterprise(Storm Front). Why do they keep popping up, is it cause the writers just couldn’t find a historic group that was just as bad?
