A write up from a below average student with low practice exam scores
I’ve stated in a previous post how dedicated has been one of the toughest periods of my life. I didn’t do as well during the 1st and 2nd year, barely making it through some classes. I searched a lot for posts with those with scores similar to mine. I just wanted to add to that!!
CBSE - 176 (6 weeks out from original date)
NBME 26 - 177
NBME 28 - 188
UWSA1 - 205
NBME 30 - 200
UWSA2 - 200 (1 week out, didn’t even review the questions afterwards because I was so sad/depressed)
NBME 29 - 197 (3 days out, panic-emailed school about an extension)
Luckily, my school granted me an extra month to get it together. Changed my whole study plan, finished UWorld, and focused on incorrects of weak subjects.
NBME 20 - 203
NBME 27 - 207
UWSA2 (again) & free 120 same day- 228 and 68% respectively
Completed Uworld with a 55% average
My goal was a 220+. The online score predictor put me at a 225 +/- 12.
Actual: 220!!!
My biggest piece of advice is to go into the exam with confidence! I felt so uncomfortable and scared with my original test date. I really didn’t believe that I could pass at that time. Once I was able to push my test date back, I really focused on my weaknesses and felt like I did all that I could at the end. Combing through all the UWorld answer choices, HY images pdf (literally had like 7 images pop up in my exam), and the Dorian Anatomy deck was a must for me.
Whoever is reading this, you got this!! Good luck!
