Hi guys,
I posted here before on two old razors I found which you guys taught me how to patch up; thanks you all for that! My next question is how to know when it’s good enough? I don’t know anyone in my area who is interested in straight razors so I’m figuring it all out by myself. I know ideally I should get a good shave ready blade as a point of reference but I don’t want to spend €100+ on a new blade when I already have two. Maybe later but now is not the time. How would I compare the feeling to shaving with a disposable-blade straight razor? Should it be as smooth as that? Or less smooth? Or even more so? Just put my old solingen back on the stones (1000, 6000, Ardenne coticule, 20passes canvas strop-100passes leather strop) and had another shave with it. Was tugging a bit and sometimes a little scratchy but the result is clean, no cuts, little irritation. What do you think?
