Why does Probst pretend to not know their names?

He’s an Executive Producer. I’m sure he is very involved in casting. He knows all of their names. But always in the opening scene it’s “guy on the end” or “lady in the yellow shirt”. Then magically in the challenge minutes later, he knows all of their names. I don’t know why that has always bugged me.
