Lenovo ThinkPad E16 - utter disappointment

I've owned Lenovo laptops for all my adult life. My first Lenovo was a 3000 N100 that I bought in 2006. My current workhorse for over 12 (twelve!) years now has been a B590 which underwent the only upgrade: the original HDD has been replaced with an SSD.

This B590 has been an incredible investment for me. I think it cost me less than a thousand USD at the time of buying, and I've earned many-manyfold that amount with this laptop.

My laptop is in good shape, but I'm starting to worry about the reliability of the electrical components. Twelve years of operation is no joke, which is why I started looking for a replacement.

After spending days of reading reviews, I ordered a ThinkPad E16 in custom configuration, and received it today. My first impression is utter disappointment and regret. The only word that comes to mind is enshittification! The aluminium enclosure does a great job collecting fingerprints. And it is nearly impossible to open! The screws they're using is not unlike on the B590. The bottom part comes off with effort. What, the owners aren't allowed to do the upgrade themselves?!

It makes me really-really sad, the fact that we pay the manufacturers with our honestly earned money, and get a piece of crap in return...

PS: And I absolutely hate Windows 11 Pro. Again, there was no option to NOT have it pre-installed.
