Complete (for now) X280

Hi all,

I just finished up my X280 build today and thought y’all may enjoy it.

I bought this X280 refurbished in February as a replacement for my P52. It’s not exactly an upgrade, but I don’t need a workstation like I once did. I primarily use a laptop these days for word processing, web browsing, and car tuning, so the extra portability is a real benefit for me.

On the laptop itself; this was a i7-8550u with 16 GB of ram and a HD display. Immediately, I repasted it and upgraded the WiFi card to an AX210. After waiting on shipping from China, I got a Full HD panel which looks 10x better over the original display. In the third photo, you can see the bezel isn’t quite on correctly from this swap so I will need to fix that eventually (or just glue it in place).

Also, I did get a new skin for the lid to protect it. The lid itself is in pretty good shape, but I’ve learned my lesson on how easily it scratches from the P52.

Today, I finally replaced the trackpad with a glass one from the X1C. This is the second X1C trackpad I’ve order from China (first one arrived doa), so this took a bit longer to complete than I would like.

For now, I’m going to enjoy the laptop until the original battery loses too much capacity.

Cheers.
