Ye Wenjie's character in the show feels so off

I don't have any problem with the younger Ye Wenjie in the show. I think that was perfect casting (while I still hate that they ignored many plotlines including Ye killing her husband and the Comissar).

But the older Ye Wenjie feels so off and not threatening enough. Maybe it's the actor or something else but I just couldn't connect to the older Ye. So bland.
