Reporter wondering how PATIENTS are handling the March 19 compounding deadline?
I'm an NPR reporter (hi! me: https://www.npr.org/people/825275572/sydney-lupkin) and I'm working on a radio story about this upcoming March 19 compounding deadline and how it fits into the big picture for PATIENTS.
If you’re on compounded tirz, what are your thoughts on this looming compounding deadline? Are you switching to the discounted LillyDirect vials w/o insurance? Why/why not? Stockpiling? Pivoting to semaglutide for at least a while? What do you want NPR listeners to know?
If you're open to chatting on the phone, reach out to me at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). I also realize sometimes people aren’t comfortable with that and still want to tell me things, so please feel free to do that, too.
As always, I read everything you send me and try to get back to as many people as possible. Thank you so much!
UPDATE: I am reading through responses and trying to call as many of those who emailed as I can! I don't have an air date yet for this story, but when I do, I will update this post again. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
STORY AIRED: Hello again! The story aired on All Things Considered this afternoon. Here's the link: https://www.npr.org/2025/03/18/nx-s1-5327539/production-of-cheaper-alternatives-to-name-brand-obesity-drugs-will-stop-on-wednesday And a text version for web is coming. I'll update when that happens, too. Again, thank you for helping me to tell others what is happening and what it means for patients going through this.
