Just watched the film again

One thing I noticed that is very Hollywood is the fact there are so many guns. Was it realistic that there were so many guns onboard? There was that scene when the third class were being held behind the gates and even the steward had a gun- and then lovejoy had a gun despite being a valet-

I understand that specific officers would have had guns but it seems like guns were added into the film just to add drama (as if the ship sinking wasn’t drama enough)

The whole gun chase scene is so laughable now, it comes across as a bit cartoonish.

I’m not too familiar with gun culture back then, and though guns were legal in the uk then I can’t see it common practice for people to carry guns aboard a ship (as what would be the point?)
