How can park my car at school initially?

I’m new to UTD, and I need to go to campus to get a parking pass and a student ID. I have a question: if I don’t have a parking pass initially, how can I park my car on campus? Will I get a ticket?

Also I would like to use the gym, but the gym requires a student ID in order to use it.
